A Good Hard Look At The Bare Bones Of Our Teenage Girl's Bedroom!

Okay, so this is what we were faced with on the viewing of our house. I have to be honest, at first, it didn't fill me with warmth and love...

...but, once everything was cleared by the old owners, we were actually left with a really lovely Georgian room.

We'd done nothing at this point, other than strip the original floorboards and use Osmo to bring them back to their full glory (covered here)...

I always find it useful to break any room down into all the things it has going for it and then to have an honest look at anything I'm not so keen on. Only then can you really overhaul a space and enable it to be its very best.

Gorgeous central sash window
Cast iron radiator
High ceiling
Original period features
Floorboards in good condition

Slightly odd shape - this doesn't show much in the photos but the walls are by no means parallel
The picture rail has been cobbled together in places
The electric wires need channelling into the walls
The shutters are made from old cupboard doors

Now to work out how to play up the lovely list of pros, whilst toning down or removing all the cons - and all, this time, on a minuscule budget!

Time to weave together some Modern Country Style magic!
