Christmas and New Year...

I had my first Christmas Day with snow...and it was every bit as delightful as I'd hoped; tramping over the field to go to church on Christmas morning in our wellies has never felt so festive! On Boxing Day, we made snowmen and threw snowballs, and went sledging...and then came home for hot buttered toast by the fire.

It's been a fantastic week being all together as a family every day. On Christmas Eve, we all played Hide and Seek in the dark! Even the littlies joined in.

 But it has meant that Modern Country Style has been rather quiet, I know.

*hangs head in shame*

And I've really missed the feeling of sitting and having a natter with you.

I imagine us sitting together somewhere like this. Aren't those chairs gorgeous-looking? And that rug?

{Yum...}

Once New Year is over then everything will be back to normal.

{I promise}

Speaking of New Year (and how's that for a seamless change of subject?!)....I love it! I found this gorgeous picture which sums up how I feel about it.

New Year's Eve is a bit like standing in a hallway of a New House; you're not quite sure what it's going to be like....but you know enough to see that it'll be lovely.

Happy New Year to you all.....

Your tromp across the field in wellies sounds like a winter dream Sarah. What a wonderful time you are having with family - as it should be.
Both images are gorgeous.

Happy new year to you.

I love the idea of playing hide and seek...that would bring me straight back to childhood(with heart pounding out sheer delight at not being found). So glad you could experience winter with snow. We had none this Christmas, while the rest of Canada is being plummeted with all sorts of weather is was just raining here. Mind you, buckets of rain.

Please don't worry about not posting. With the amount of stuff you put on your blog you need a break, dear!

I love New Year's! Love it! I like the way you think of it. I find I always have such a boost of energy this time of year. I'm chomping at the bit to get working on more posts, but I'm still busy in the clean up from all the gifts! I can't wait for us all to get back to work on all our fabulousness.

Happy New Year Sarah! So fun to read your post and hear about the cultural differences in the way we celebrate Christmas. Glad you had snow for Christmas. Most of the eastern half of the USA did too. A first for many.

Hi lovely Sarah!

It's been a little quiet but that just means we have all been enjoying our homes and family. I can't wait to start the New Year! So amazing and fun that you and the kids had a white Christmas! I can just see the excitement!

They must have better home decor magazines in Europe. Another Bloggerette friend posted a blog,today, about magazines she purchased from England. Gorgeous stuff! Love the floors in the last photo! Yum!

Be well, friend! Happy New Year!

How amazing to experience a snowy Christmas Sarah. What a contrast to our Christmas - we were flooded in and lost power for 2 days. I could have done with some of that open fire and toast! I look forward to visiting you again in the New Year. Enjoy your holidays. ;)Sharyne
